Barauliany Tent Camp Heroes: We Are To Protest No Matter What

Barauliany residents have defended their camp from the police.

This morning the police arrived at the tent camp in Barauliany, organized by local residents in protest against deforestation and building a highway near the houses. The policemen removed from the trees banners and slogans "Take Care Of The Forest," BelSat reports.

"They removed all the banners and posters, we saw that they were drawing up a protocol. They did not talk to the local residents. They worked very quickly and now they are already gone. But we are going to protest no matter what," – Ivan, a resident of the village of Vopytny, says.

We remind that a tent city appeared in the forest near Minsk, it’s a symbol of protest against deforestation and construction of a highway near the houses. Residents of the Barauliany agglomeration, which also includes Liaskouka, Liasnoi and Vopytny settlements, suspect corrupt links between the local authorities and private construction companies.
