Baranavichy Activist Fights Against Lawlessness In Courts
RYHOR HRYK

The judicial system works according to the principle "I was roped without being consulted."

Baranavichy activist Ryhor Hryk disagreed with the decision of the Tsentralny District Court of Minsk. The activist was fined 30 basic fines for participating in the Minsk rally on July 7.

The event was directed against the military Russian-Belarusian exercises West-2017 and in support of political prisoners.

"The Minsk court punished me without seeing, although I filed a request to transfer the trial to Baranavichy, as I can’t afford coming to Minsk. But they considered my case. Our courts pass judgments without seeing the person they want to punish. Only policemen witness at trials. The lawlessness, which used to be in courts, remains the same in the country," – Ryhor Hryk told Radio Racyja.

With the help of the Human Rights Center Viasna, Ryhor Hryk wrote a cassation appeal to the Minsk City Court.
