Monument To Anonimous Knight-Hero Of 1502 Erected In Mstsislaul

An anonimous knight defended the eastern borders of the GDL in the Battle of Mstsislaul.

In Mstsislaul, a memorial sign was erected at the Zamkavaya Mountain — a wooden cross with the inscription "To unknown knight who died in the Battle of Mstsislaul on November 4 (16), 1502," racyja.com reported.

On November 4 (16th in the new style), 1502 there was a battle in Mstsislaul between the troops of the Principality of the Moscow and Grand Duchy of Lithuania; the troops of the GDL headed by Prince Mikhail Zaslauski retreated to the castle, where it was trapped. Many knights died.

The remains of a knight in armor were found in the Vihra River in 2013. The reburial took place in 2014 during the medieval festival. At the foot of the Zamkavaya Mountain there is also an arch in honor of the warriors — defenders of Mstsislaul.
