Lida Driver Without Technical Inspection Proof Set Up "Record" In Dealings With Traffic Police

A few years ago, a Lida resident bought an off-roader and has never gone through the annual test.

The introduction of the state fee for the issuance of a permit for a vehicle’s participation in traffic and the binding of its payment to the technical inspection have seriously affected the desire of drivers to undergo this procedure. In 2017, more than half of the car owners – 55% – refused to go through the test.

At the same time, according to the traffic police, since 2014, there has been an increase in the number of administrative violations for the absence of a technical inspection proof in Belarus. Over the past year, only in Lida and Lida region, 6185 people were brought to administrative responsibility, 2,039 of them – repeatedly within a year, s13.ru writes.

One of the Lida residents has paid the fine for not undergoing the test 13 times within a year. The amount of payments was 690 rubles. In general, car owners ignore the visit to the service center for financial reasons, in fact, in addition to paying for the inspection, it is necessary to provide a check on paying the state fee for issuing a permit on the vehicle’s participation in traffic. And it is the latter that confuses the drivers. The amount of state duty, depending on the weight and type of the car, is from 73.5 to 269.5 rubles.

"I've been driving without a check for several years. Of course, you feel not very relaxed while driving. You expect that there is a traffic police officer with a baton waiting somewhere near by. I follow the tips of other drivers and, in principle, I get stopped once or twice a year, but it's still cheaper than paying all transport taxes and passing the check. But in the near future I'm thinking of changing my car and so I'm already thinking about how I would go through the check," – a car driver said to Lida TV without disclosing his name.
