Videofact: Disgruntled Brest Residents Catcalled Officials

People have asked the authorities some uncomfortable questions about the harmful effect of the battery plant near Brest.

People came to a meeting with construction company representatives and district executive committee officials to protest against the decision to build a battery plant near Brest, Radio Svaboda reports.

One of the initiators of collecting signatures, Biaroza activist, blogger of the youtube project People's Reporter Aliaksandr Kabanau was reporting live from the meeting.

The representatives of the authorities could not answer a significant part of the questions, and at the end of the meeting, the audience was chanting: "Shame!"

7,500 people signed the petition to stop the construction. An appeal in support of suspending the construction, conducting an independent environmental examination and holding public discussions will be sent to Lukashenka’s administration, the "house of representatives", the Brest Regional Executive Committee and the regional "council of deputies". The collection of signatures, which started on January 6, is still on.
