Workers Fall From 8-Meter Height In Babruisk

The employees of the communal enterprise were sent to cut off tree branches.

According to the information provided by Senior Investigator of the Babruisk interdistrict department of the Investigatory Committee O. A. Paliakou to the Commercial Courier, the accident occurred during seasonal pruning of trees. The work was carried out by the municipal enterprise for servicing the housing fund of the Leninski district. Due to the damage of the hydraulic attachment of the boom lifting mechanism, there was an uncontrolled fall of the metal pad from a height of about eight meters. As a result, two workers born in 1982 and 1991 received multiple injuries and were hospitalized. At present, their condition is assessed by doctors as severe.

The Babruisk interdistrict department of the Investigatory Committee started criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 306 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus “Violation of safety rules, industrial sanitation or other rules for labor protection by an official responsible for compliance with them (violation of labor protection rules), resulting in negligence in occupational disease or causing serious or less serious bodily injury.” As part of the investigation, a number of examinations have been appointed, including auto-technical and forensic ones. Employees of the competent authorities are also studying the documentation for the aerial platform, and get acquainted with the order of conducting safety briefings.
