Something was off about the ruler’s words.
Ambassador of Pakistan Masud Khan Raja met with Aliaksandr Lukashenka, having completed his diplomatic mission in Belarus. Salidarnasts explains what was off about the ruler’s words.
"I ask you, if possible, to convey my best wishes to Nawaz Sharif"
Why should this request of the Belarusian ruler, who "has a very good relationship with Nawaz Sharif," stress the Ambassador of Pakistan?
Not only was the politician removed from the post of prime minister on charges of corruption six months ago. Since the end of last year, the court has been considering a criminal case against Nawaz Sharif and his children.
The so-called "Panamanian dossier" reveals that the former prime minister’s children owned offshore companies. Nawaz Sharif himself appears in three of the four episodes of the case: he is charged with possession of assets that exceed his source of income as an official.
A tractor from Lukashenka as a gift
The press writes that the former prime minister has serious problems. Sharif is in disgrace and on the pan in his native country. One can imagine what the ambassador of Pakistan feels, when Lukashenka asks him to send his best to Sharif.
"Even without effort, we will be able to cross the crucial milestone (a $ 1 billion trade turnover)"
This ruler’s statement sounded not less than strange. Actually, Lukashenka and Sharif set this goal about three years ago (!) and were going to reach it by 2019-2020. But now the commodity turnover is about insignificant 60 million dollars. Lukashenka's optimism is to be envied.
Another significant fact is as follows: after the meeting of Lukashenka with the Ambassador of Pakistan, the state media gave out positive statistics. In January-November 2017, the trade between the countries increased by 30% up to $ 65.5 million.
The trick is that this volume only repeats the level of 2012. Since Lukashenka and Sharif started to develop cooperation (80 documents were signed during their mutual visits), it was not possible to approach this figure for a long time...
