Former Afghan War Veteran Aliaksandr Saharuk: For Me, White-Red-White Flag Is Symbol Of Liberation
ALIAKSANDR SAHARUK

The hero of the war in Afghanistan wants the police to apologize for disrespect for national symbols.

On February 15, the Leninski district court of Brest considered the complaint of public activist, peacekeeper Aliaksandr Saharuk regarding unlawful actions of police officers. Judge Karpava will announce the court's decision at 9.30 on 19 February, Brest Spring informs.

"I'm a soldier, I just performed my military duty! And I am not an "Afghan"!" – Aliaksandr Saharuk said after the trial.

"I raised a white-red-white flag on May 9, because there were no decrees under this flag that infringed on human rights. I did not violate anything. I was detained, subjected to bullying, threats and insults, especially at the police station. I was not brought to administrative responsibility – I was acquitted, but they do not consider it necessary to apologize. For me, the white-red-white flag is a symbol of freedom and liberation."
