Photofact: Lukashenka Treated To Special "Military Ration"

According to state media, military servicemen in the army are fed with beef in sweet and sour sauce.

On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Interior Ministry troops, Lukashenka visited the military unit 5448 in the capital, BelTA reports.

Lukashenka was told what the servicemen are fed with at lunch and what is included in the dry rations: cookies, juice, stews, cereals, canned fish, pea soup, chocolate, sweets, paste, condensed milk and coffee.

According to state media, the menu of servicemen includes "Leningrad rassolnik", beef in sweet and sour sauce, buckwheat porridge and compote.

Сharter97.org journalists have contacted former serviceman of the 11th Independent Guards Mechanized Brigade (Slonim) Vitali (the surname is not published at his request – ed.) and asked him to comment on the dry ration presented in the photo of the official news agency.

"Nothing could be further from the truth. During each trip to the firing ground, we had a standard allowance: a half of a white bread and two cans of the cheapest stew. I would never buy such stew myself – it contains only fat and some threads of meat in-between. We spread this "stew" on the bread and ate it. And that's all. When we were at the joint exercises with Russia "Shield of the Union," the Russian soldiers were provided, along with this set, with a tin of condensed milk. They used to barter it for spirits."
