The Belarusian oppositionist comments on the strikes of the leading NATO countries against the Assad regime.
Member of the Council of the Belarusian National Congress Yauhen Afnahel has said the following in an interview for Charter97.org:
- It happened so that the West retreated before the forces of evil quite often recently, being unable to give a decent reply to criminal and tyrants, who took their peoples as hostages. Such policy led only to the fact that the bacillus of dictatorship affected more and more countries, while its carriers felt greater and greater impunity. Just imagine how much life loss could have been avoided in the same Syria if similar measures had been taken five years ago, when President Obama showed indecisiveness after the fist cases of using chemical weapons by Assad. Democratic countries should think about it every time it comes to relations with dubious regimes.
The attacks by the United States, Great Britain and France on Assad, as a response to his use of chemical weapons against his own citizens, is an eloquent signal to those regimes that support the Syrian dictator, including the Belarusian one.
I hope that the recent words of US President Trump about the need to rebut "cruel tyrants and murderers, dictators" will actually meet with his actions.
