Former Chairman Of Homel Regional Executive Committee Detained In Russia
ALIAKSANDR SITNITSA

Aliaksandr Sitnitsa disappeared a week ago.

Last week it became known about the "disappearance" of the chairman of the Homel regional executive committee Aliaksandr Sitnitsa. The representatives of the law enforcement agencies did not comment on this information. Only the press-center of the Homel regional executive committee reported that Sitnitsa was fired due to failure to appear at work. Tut.by has just learnt that the traces of the former official were found in Russia.

According to the sources, Sitnitsa first took a sick leave, and then stopped going to work. At the same time, the law-enforcers took interest to him.

Soon the official was put on the wanted list. At the end of last week he was detained in Russia, two sources told journalists. It was not possible to confirm this information in the law enforcement agencies of Belarus.

The Interior Ministry advised to monitor the information on their official website.

Last week, Sitnitsa's son told reporters that the family has always lived "on their hard-earned money." As for the possible claims of the law-enforcers, he believes that "they will not find anything". "I think, even if there is a trial, he's gonna win an acquittal," - he said.

Aliaksandr Sitnitsa headed the Homel regional executive committee since 2009.
