REP Trade Union Is To Hold May Day Protest Rally

The Minsk City Executive Committee has given a permission to hold a rally.

The authorities have allowed the REP trade union to hold a rally at Kiev Square from 14.00 to 16.00 on May 1. Henadz Fiadynich has informed Belsat about it.

The trade unions proposed in their request three possible places for the rally – the site near the Opera House, Yanka Kupala Square and Kiev Square. "The authorities have eventually chosen the Kiev Square – obviously, it’s easier for them, since this site has been allowed before," – Fiadynich says.

According to the application, up to 2 thousand people will take part in the rally.

According to Fiadynich, the slogans will be predominantly social at the rally, but there will be no thematic limitation.
