Officials Banged Up In hundreds In Belarus

780 officials and managers were convicted of corruption in 2017.

Such figures were announced on the air of the TV channel Belarus 1, tut.by writes.

Last year, the country's security agencies identified and stopped about 2,000 corruption crimes. 780 officials and managers were convicted. The amount of damage caused by these crimes amounted to 25 million rubles.

And, as it was stated on the air of Belarus 1, the number of corruption crimes is growing: thus, for 4 months of this year, 940 corruption crimes were detected, 360 people are the suspects.

According to Ihar Shunevich, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 80% of corruption crimes are detected by law enforcement officers.

"I do not think that the upcoming events, significant in the life of the country, will somehow affect the situation with corruption in the country. Certainly, some risks will appear in the part of spending budget funds, and we take this into account.

We are getting ready: we create special documents to control the expenditure of budgetary funds, which are allocated for the provision of activities. In general, the ministry's task is to narrow the field, which creates opportunities for corruption risks," – Shunevich stressed.
