Photo Of BPR Subaltern Officer Estimated At $2 K

The photo was taken in Dzvinsk in 1919.

The photograph of a military man of the times of the Belarusian People’s Republic is sold at online auction for Bn 4K ($2K).

It is stated in the comment that the photo of the subaltern officer was taken in 1919 in Dzvinsk (now – Daugavpils, Lithuania), and that he could possibly serve in the separate unit of the BPR army under command of General Stanislau Bulak-Balakhovich.

However, most likely the military man in the picture served in the squad of one of the Belarusian units, which existed within the Lithuanian army since 1918. A white-red-white ribbon is seen on his uniform. The separate Belarusian unit fought against the Red Army in the Dzvinsk area.
