Belarusian Factories Work On Captured German Machines

The 44-year-old machines of the Vorsha tool factory are far from the limit.

At the Vorsha tool factory, Lukashenka was angered also by the unique factory equipment. The milling machines of th eyear 1974, when the plant started working. Euroradio has been searching for the rarest operating plant equipment and journalists can say that the 44-year-old machines of the tool factory are not the limit.

They say at the Minsk plant "Horizont", that in 2008 the enterprise purchased new equipment. Nevertheless, the radial-drilling machine made in 1967 - an auxiliary rarity - has been preserved here and is now used, but not for mass production. The machine is 51 years old!

The construction of the Minsk Worsted Integrated Factory began in 1951. And recently the enterprise was modernized, and now most of the equipment was made in 2014-2015. Is there nothing left?

"The drawing frame we have is dated 1989, and the combing ones, which we also use, are more modern, 90's," the company says. "They already had software control there, but not as complex as it is now on new equipment."

But why leaving the old machines?

"We left them just in case. When you modernize, it is difficult to shift sharply to new equipment. It takes time to get used to it, to adjust the parameters are adjusted ... But now, when we have big load, these machines even help. You can work on the old and the new equipment. Older machines are easier to repair. The new equipment is electronic. It requires a good specialist. The adjustment is more difficult. And with the old equipment, our experienced locksmiths worked all their lives. Naturally, they are easier with the old."

At the Maladechna enterprise of automotive and power electronics "Elektromodul", they laughed sadly at our inquiries, saying "everything here is old, somewhere 74 years".

The rarities at the Baranavichy production cotton enterprise "Blakit" are a little younger, but also from the last century:

"The weaving machines STB-175 were produced in the 80s. They are still working. We still have a bleaching line of the kiot of the 80th year. The bleaching line whitens not worse than a new one, actually. We had a very large park of this equipment. In part, we have pensioned off the same equipment, and now we use them for spare parts. The fabrics we produce are of high quality. The structure of the fabric remained the same. Nothing has changed."

But all these rarities are nothing compared to the equipment that remains at the Slonim cardboard and paper plant "Albertin."

"We work on one machine works, which was exported from Germany after the war, the other one - also since that time. Of course, it was modernized with modern mechanisms, but the base itself is still "fascist". "

The paper-making machines of 1913 were at the Krasnaya Zvezda factory in Chashniki, but they were pensioned off.

"There are no rarities," they say at the factory. - The oldest equipment is now the one made somewhere in the 80s of the last century. There is one drilling machine, produced by Sovnarkhoz, maybe in the 50's. It still works - drills holes when necessary. There used to be ancient paper-making machines of 1913, but they were all thrown away. They were made in the Tsar times. There were Czech machines from Stori Mantel, but they were also thrown away."

The German pre-war machine was also found at the shipyard in Pinsk. However, when the journalists decided to clarify the year of release of this rarity from the chief engineer, he correctly understood everything: "What? After all this Lukashenka’s reaction to the production, do you really still want to write something? No, I will not tell you anything."
