The court of the Minsk district made a guilty verdict against the deputy head of Minsk regional children's hospital, writes tut.by. Arkadz Patapau will serve his sentence in a reinforced-security penal colony. During the trial, the defendant fully pleaded guilty and repented. According to the investigation, from 2015 to 2018 he received bribes in the amount of 46 thousand rubles and, as he admitted in court, everything was spent "for family needs".

Arkadz Patapau was found guilty under Parts 1, 2 of Article 430 of the Criminal Code "Repeated bribe taking".

- The accused was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 6 years, with the confiscation of all property, with the deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational, managing and administrative-economic duties for a period of 5 years.

The place of serving the sentence in the form of imprisonment has been determined as the correctional colony under the conditions of reinforced security, - reports the website of the Supreme Court.

As early as the first day of the trial, Arkadz Patapau fully acknowledged guilt and did not deny that he received bribes from contractors. However, the defendant could not say the exact amounts.

- I was happy with what I was given, - he admitted during interrogation in court.

The bribers gave Patapau the money right at the workplace, he told contractors openly: if they want to do repairs in the hospital, they must pay him. Most often, Arkadz Patapau received bribes in Belarusian rubles, but one day he was given the euro - "there was such a need" - and a bottle of Grant's whiskey.

- Do you think that your actions caused damage to the hospital and the state? Or is it your relationship with the briber? Lawyer Yakauleu asked his client.

"I did not cause any damage to the hospital, these are our relations with the people," Patapau answered.

According to the defendant, he spent all the money "for family needs".

The sentence has not entered into legal force, it can be appealed and challenged in accordance with the procedure established by law.
