Volha Nikalaichyk: People Call Hard Names When They Hear About Lukashenka

A lot of people rely on the opposition.

Director and activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Volha Nikalaichyk told the press service of the civil campaign about the stage of signature collection:

- The conclusions after the first month of the campaign are the most positive. I collected signatures for myself and other European Belarus activists. There were a lot of words of support, human affection, when they opened the doors and saw those who represent an alternative to the current government.

I've got a huge experience, I've seen how people react, sense everything. This attitude was followed, at times, by inviting us to their not very rich apartments, and it was obvious how hard it is for many Minsk citizens to live. Unfortunately, I have seen such a picture very often.

I really felt the people's support when the residents of the entire staircase were willing to sign for us, thus showing how tired they are of this power. As soon as someone hears "Lukashenka" - he starts calling hard names. It can be seen on people's faces that they have had enough of this collective farm gang.

Even though many people are not ready to act now, but we, the opposition, have great hopes. These are not just loud words, they are bitter truth. I have seen so many eyes and hearts filled with pain, despair and hope this month that I cannot retreat from my determination to continue the struggle.
