Previously Terminated Criminal Case Against Blogger Kabanau Resumed

The case was resumed after Lukashenka's attack on the opponents of the battery factory.

The criminal case against the blogger and activist from Biaroza Aliaksandr Kabanau was resumed.

"The case was resumed by Brest Regional Prosecutor's Office. I haven't received any documents yet, but I know about it from the lawyer. In general, I suspect that a ruling on the search will be issued. I have reasons to believe so. They need to continue doing their job somehow," - Aliaksandr Kabanau told Belsat.

A criminal case against Aliaksandr Kabanau was initiated in March this year. He was charged with misappropriation of money of the association of homeowners. The case was initiated on the basis of the statement of Kabanau's neighbor, who works in the police. The neighbor testified that Kabanau, when he worked as chairman of the association two years ago, appropriated about 400 rubles. In fact, it turned out that Kabanau was receiving a salary of 120 rubles per month for his work as chairman. Therefore, in July, the criminal case was terminated for lack of corpus delicti. But now they decided to resume it.

Aliaksandr Kabanau is a well-known blogger, as well as an opponent of the construction of the battery factory near Brest. Kabanau was nominated to the elections to the house of representatives, but he was not registered. In addition, Aliaksandr Lukashenka criticized the activists in Brest for allegedly "creating uproar".

"I want the young people to rely only on themselves, to show themselves more actively. But I do not want them to create uproar as the ones in Brest, as I know, did, and I warned everyone when I was there at the 1000th anniversary that there were some of those battery activists, and everyone would soon understand why they were creating that uproar. They all ran as candidates for deputies, - Lukashenka said. - That is, they couldn’t care less about the battery factory, they are ready to go to Minsk tomorrow and idle around this street and behave quietly or create uproar in Minsk squares already," - the dictator said.
