Video Fact: Maladzechna Residents Massively Attended Meeting With Statkevich
MIKALAI STATKEVICH

There has been a picket to collect signatures in town.

Today a picket to collect signatures in support of the Narodnaya Hramada activists has been held in Maladzechna.

During the picket to collect signatures, the leader of the Belarusian National Congress, Mikalai Statkevich, held a meeting with residents of town, the Charter97.org correspondent from Maladzechna reports.

According to the politician's assessment made in the commentary to Charter97.org, "more than 70 people were permanently present at the meeting, and if we take into account the fact that people came and go, this figure is much higher and we can really say that people came to hear Statkevich en masse".

The Maladzechna residents are concerned about the low wages in the town. People of middle age - about low pensions and a possible increase in the retirement age for women. The picket was attended by at least 20 employees in civilian clothes, who were standing on the edges of the gathering. Mikalai Statkevich forced two men in civilian clothes with cameras, who were openly interfering with the event and trying to capture the politician on video point-blank, to leave the picket.

"We penetrate into all strata of society simultaneously. Even those people who do not use the Internet and learn about the event from each other come to such meetings. I know from the experience of other places that after our pickets and meetings the discussions do not stop there for a long time, strangers start to write to me and ask to come back. We really excite the province," - Mikalai Statkevich said to Charter97.org.
