Police Conduct Siege Of Volha Nikalaichyk's House

The authorities want to spoil the holiday for the social activist and film director.

Public activist and director Volha Nikalaichyk told Charter97.org that police are waiting for her near the house:

– At 10 o'clock in the morning strangers started to knock on my windows. I do not leave the house, because I know from past experience that I simply will be detained. For the junta, which is at the head of Belarus, it is not a holiday today.

Volha Nikalaichyk notes that there are no formal reasons for her detention:

– I have no debts on administrative cases. There is one unpaid fine, but I appealed it to the Human Rights Commission. My freedom and rights are violated absolutely unreasonable.

In this country, they arrest me absolutely for everything. Therefore, I was not even going to go to the concert, which takes place in Kiev Square on March 24. I knew that I simply wouldn’t get to the stage, they would arrest me.

Despite the threat of arrest, the social activist and director does not lose courage. Volha Nikalaichyk has congratulated all Belarusians on Freedom Day holiday:

– Congratulations to all free-spirited Belarusians on the occasion of the BPR’s proclamation. I believe that our people have enough strength and courage to change this criminal power and we will celebrate Freedom Day in free Belarus.
