Turkey Found Cracks In Foundation Of Akkuyu NPP: It Is Built By BelNPP Reactor Vessel Manufacturer

The regulator of the nuclear power industry of Turkey has found cracks in the foundation of the nuclear power plant being built by Rosatom twice.

The regulator of the nuclear power industry of Turkey found cracks in the foundation of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, which is being built by the Russian state corporation Rosatom, twice, Belsat reports with reference to Haberturk.

The opening ceremony of the Akkuyu construction site was held with the participation of Turkish President Recep Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the periodical, the first crack was found in July 2018. After Rosatom poured the concrete again, a new crack appeared – the work on its elimination ended in September.

Rosatom reports that the construction of the Akkuyu NPP is proceeding in accordance with the schedule.

The Akkuyu nuclear power plant project includes four power units with Russian VVER-1200 reactor installations (the same as at the Belarusian NPP). The project cost is estimated at $ 20 billion.
