Lawyer: They Add People To Base Of "Parasites" Indiscriminately

This opens up additional prospects in fighting against the absurd decree.

The father of a child under seven years of age has been added to the base of "parasites" in Homel region, although, according to Decree № 1, parents of children under 7 years of age do not fall into the category of those "not employed in the economy."

The situation for the Charter97.org website has been commented by Leanid Sudalenka, the legal inspector of the REP trade union.

– The "parasite" decree clearly states in black and white: if there are children under seven years of age, their parents are considered employed in the economy, regardless of whether they work or not.

In this case, the commission has made a big mistake having included the father of the child in the "parasite" lists.

It seems that the officials simply add everyone to the database of "parasites", and then start to find out who they have included there.

We have already managed to release six people from the base of "parasites" in Homel and Homel region. And that’s because these people did not give up, but appealed against the decisions of the commissions. The negligence of the officials in the commissions gives us additional opportunities to fight against the decree on "parasites." In one case we find a land plot that belongs to the person registered as a "parasite," in another case we find grounds to release him on health grounds and so on.

Surprisingly, the officials do not see these moments in the very beginning. Is it is difficult to find out that a man has land or a child? This information lies on the surface.

These lapses most vividly characterize the "parasite" commissions’ work: everything is done off the wall, first a person is included in the lists, and then, if he begins to protest – only then they start to check into the matter.

For example, the case of writer Nika Rakitsina. How can one not know that the person, even under the new laws, is already reaching the retirement age? After our reaction, they had no choice but to admit their incompetence and exclude her from the list of "parasites."

From all this we can conclude: why pay the increased communal fee under the absurd decree, if the commissions themselves, through their mistakes, open up opportunities for us to appeal against their decisions. Do not hurry to go to the commission and buy out some codes to check whether you have been added into the base. Come to the REP legal service instead, and we will fight together with the decisions of these commissions.
