On June 8, Stanislau Shushkevich To Present His Book "My Life, Collapse And Resurrection Of USSR. 25 Years Later"

The book will be presented in Minsk.

– This book is 80% the same as the previous edition, the new part there – everything that happened 25 years later, – Stanislau Stanislavovich says. – But since the previous book was published in a small circulation, it was decided to repeat it. In principle, this edition also has a small circulation – only 1000 copies have been printed so far.

– And how was the previous book sold out?

– Instantly! The circulation of 2500 thousand copies was printed for Moscow, but in two days the book was not on sale.

Lithuanian, Belarusian and Polish versions were also quickly sold. In Poland, I had a bad luck – I had to make a presentation at Gazeta Wyborcza, we wanted to print more copies, but I had problems with my heart, and the presentation was cancelled.

And this time the youth of my party have decided to make a presentation of my book in Minsk. I have been invited, and I am happy to go. I have something to say!

There were a lot of difficulties with the publication. I was making the text for the English edition, but the firm that ordered me to do the editing collapsed...

The publisher told me frankly: if I publish your book, it will be the last book published by my publishing house.

–And where did you print this book?

– In Ukraine. It is impossible for me to publish my book in Belarus. I do not rule out that questions may arise even to those who will sell it.

– How much does the book cost?

– In general, I would like it to be sold for Br20. But when it was given to one store, they charged extra, and the price turned out to be Br36. Who will buy it for such money? Those who may be interested in my book do not have extra thirty-six rubles.

By the way, I have already held several presentations of the new book in Minsk. But it was more of a corporate format.

– On June 8, it will be possible to buy the book and get your autograph?

– I think so, yes.

– Is the entrance free?

– Of course! It was only in Japan in 2007 that tickets were sold for my lectures. I gave seven public lectures, each of which was attended by more than a thousand people.

The manager paid me a fee after each lecture. It was a fantastic amount! But I quickly spent the money on cars. I bought myself a Nissan and my wife a Mazda.

By the way, doctors recently forbade me to drive. My health is not that good anymore. Even now I'm sitting with a holster.

– Well, at least not in hospital!

– I wouldn't like to get into the hospital. The fact is that on June 5, I am flying to Wroclaw to award a prize to former German President Joachim Gauk, an old friend of mine. By the way, he is also the hero of my book. I met him before he became president!

Now I'm thinking how to bring him the book...

Presentation of the book "My Life, Collapse And Resurrection Of USSR. 25 Years Later" will be held on June 8, 2019 in the 210 Meters event space in Minsk, 3 Chapaev Street, (entrance from the courtyard up the stairs) from 11.00 to 14.00.
