Belarusian MFA Notifies Russian Embassy On Arrest Of Three Russian Citizens By KGB

They are suspected of giving a bribe.

The Russian Embassy in Belarus received an official notification from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry about the arrest of three Russian citizens by the KGB of Belarus. This was reported to tut.by by Press Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Belarus Alexey Maskalev.

They were detained over the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 431 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (Bribery).

“In this regard, in accordance with the established practice, they sent a request to the competent Belarusian authorities on the access of consular officers to the specified citizens of the Russian Federation,” the Embassy added.

Alexey Maskalev also added that the notification of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus does not state that the detainees are mentioned in the same episodes related to the latest high-profile detentions in Belarus.

On May 4, the KGB of Belarus officially confirmed the arrest of the director of Beltelecom, Siarhei Sivadzedau, for taking a bribe. Together with him, the law-enforcers also detained a bribe giver - a citizen of the Russian Federation K. The latter handed Sivadzedau the money “for assistance in the supply of telecommunications equipment.”

In addition, the details of the detention of Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council Andrei Utsiuryn became known. He was detained red-handed while receiving $ 148,600 from a representative of a Russian commercial structure for assisting in promoting its interests in Belarus, the office said.

After these reports, the Russian Embassy in Belarus requested information from the Belarusian side about the arrestees.
