Lithuania Opened Humanitarian Corridor For 507 Belarusians

139 of them are already in the Baltic country.

Lithuania has allowed 507 citizens of Belarus to arrive for humanitarian reasons, the Interior Ministry reports, "Novaya Gazeta. Baltic" writes.

"The number of immigrants is constantly changing, today we have granted permission to arrive in Lithuania. The protests have not stopped, people decide to leave Belarus. However, these people can return to their country if they are not in danger," - Lithuanian Interior Minister Rita Tamašunienė said.

Out of 507 people, 139 have already arrived in Lithuania, 34 have requested asylum.

Since August 11, Lithuania has opened a humanitarian corridor for Belarusians. Permissions are issued by the Minister of the Interior on a motivated proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bring a foreigner to Lithuania due to special humanitarian reasons, such as political circumstances or other threats.
