New Minister of Culture Appointed

He has no relation to culture.

Anatol Markevich, ex-assistant to Lukashenka in the Brest region, became the new minister of culture. He took this position in February 2019, BelTA informs.

The new minister of culture is 49 years old. He comes from the village of Hromki, Shchuchyn district. He graduated from the Brest State Pedagogical Institute named after Pushkin and the Academy of Management.

He worked as a teacher and director in schools in the Hrodna region. In 2002, he became deputy chairman of the Karelichy regional executive committee. In 2010-2011, he headed the Karelichy district "Council of Deputies," worked as the Navahrudak regional executive committee chairman from 2011 to 2019.

Until that moment, the Ministry of Culture of Belarus was headed by 47-year-old Yury Bondar.
