Belarusians Spent Over 70 Hours Without Mobile Internet

The Belarusian Internet Observatory has prepared a report on Internet blocking in Belarus for the period from August to the end of October. Dev.by calculated how long we have lived without the Internet.
The Belarusian Internet Observatory is a project created to monitor blocking of websites in the Belarusian segment of the Internet. The project regularly checks the availability of websites of independent media, human rights, socio-political and other organizations in order to identify possible restrictions of access thereof.
According to the report, from the evening of August 9 to the morning of August 12 in Belarus, mobile Internet was completely disconnected for three Belarusian operators for 31 hours 45 minutes.
According to NetBlocks, in the period from August 9 to 12, the total time of interruptions with the Internet connection in Belarus made 61 hours. The report of the Belarusian Internet Observatory calculates the hours of complete disconnection of the mobile Internet for the same period.
Starting from August 30, every Sunday operators turned off the mobile Internet “by order of higher authorities.” Periodically, the network disappeared not only in Minsk, but also in actively protesting regions. On average, mobile internet was turned off for 4-5 hours every Sunday.

Thus, in the 3 months after the election, many Belarusians were completely deprived of mobile Internet for at least 71 hours.
