There is a huge shortage of MIA officers across the country.
According to former investigator and justice captain Sviatlana Hilko, the investigative committee is divided into two groups: those who agree to "investigate" political cases and those who refuse to do so. Their ratio is 50 to 50. There is an attempt to turn honest employees into outcasts. They are not given bonuses, they are not promoted. She said this on the air of Euroradio.
"The Belarusian police is a part of society. I know entire units that refused to go to government rallies in early August for bonuses. They used to go to the chief and say they wouldn't do it. Across the republic, the understaffing of internal affairs officers is from 15 to 30%. The system is trying not only to recruit retirees, but is even bringing back people who have been fired for compromising reasons: driving drunk or committing other gross official misconduct," - Sviatlana.
