Anatol Shkirmant, head of the department of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, with the diagnosis of double pneumonia and confirmed COVID-19, is hospitalized at the intensive care unit of the central district hospital in Smarhon.

The son of the doctor-epidemiologist, a border guard officer serving under contract in the training center of the Border Guard Institute in Smarhon, with the temperature and signs of infection, is on self-isolation in a separate room of the apartment, where his wife and children live.
The epidemiologist became ill on Sunday. Almost all employees of the State Institution of the Smarhon Zonal Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology were hospitalized with him.
"It all started with the head doctor of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, who was going to work and infecting employees. The employees, in their turn, were visiting the surveillance facilities. The chief physician is now in hospital.
