Mikalai Statkevich To Judge: I Will Not Participate In Your Circus Show

Leader of the Belarusian opposition Mikalai Statkevich has been illegally arrested for 15 days.

Maryna Adamovich, the spouse of leader of the Belarusian National Congress Mikalai Statkevich, has reported on Facebook that her husband was arrested for 15 days.

The leader of the Belarusian opposition was convicted over his participation in the legal picket for collecting signatures on May 24, which the judge referred to as a “non-sanctioned action”.

“I will not participate in your circus show. Putting on a gown doesn’t make you a real judge. And you - why are you sitting here with no mask on? The man who calls himself a Major! Put the mask on, or get away from me,” Mikalai Statkevich said in court.

“Mikalai is asking you not to stop,” Maryna Adamovich passed the message of the opposition leader to Belarusians.

Mikalai Statkevich was preventively detained by the police on May 31 before the legal action for collecting signatures in Minsk.
