Belarusians Of New York Held Rally In Front Of UN Building

During the rally they adopted an appeal from the American Belarusians, which was sent to the UN.

On September 20, the Belarusian-American Association and the Belarusians in New York held a rally in front of the UN building to coincide with the beginning of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, chairman of the BAZA headquarters Natallia Fedarenka reported to Charter97.org.

Belarus is one of the founding members of the UN and today needs assistance from the international community and the UN to fight against Lukashenka's dictatorial regime.

Zianon Pazniak, Natallia Fedarenka, Siarhei Sarahavets, Uladzimir Tsialitsa and others spoke at the rally. Lyudmila Khomchenko and Stefania Gnatenko spoke on behalf of the Ukrainian diaspora, and Yulia Zaporozhtseva spoke from the Russian opposition organization Freedom in Russia.

The main theses of the speeches were as follows: the support of the Belarusian people in their struggle against the dictatorial regime; drawing the attention of the international community; the need to expand the use of the Belarusian language; appeals to the American authorities; and the demand to stop violence against people by Lukashenka's bandits. During the rally, an appeal from the American Belarusians was adopted and sent to the UN.
