Yesterday, activist of the European Belarus civil campaign and Narodnaya Hramada Volha Nikalaichyk got into a car accident. She told the Charter97.org website the details of the accident.

"We were taking my mother by car to the Pershamaiski district administration of Minsk, because they started to charge my debts for fines from her. 40% of my mother's pension was taken away in September.

We were driving along Lahoiski tract when a truck ran over us. A huge car hit our car and threw it to the curb. It broke the mirrors. We stopped, because we were pinned to the parapet, and the truck immediately left. Our car was jammed on my mother's side.

We did not call traffic police, as the driver did not have the proof of technical inspection. And then, he could be a common man so we decided not to set him up. For us, at large, all went well. Everyone is alive. But my mother got very scared, moreover, after the visit to the administration.
