Putin does not call.

In a recent interview, Aliaksandr Lukashenka uttered the phrase "I have no friends" for a reason. After the fatal date of August 9, the social circle of "the last dictator" decreased dramatically. Majority of heads of states strictly refused to recognize Lukashenka's victory and the very legitimacy of the election. There were many reasons for it. Some of them followed their elders, habitually obeying their will, reports bargu.by.

The exceptions were the president of Russia, some Asian leaders, China, Venezuela, and Syria. Moreover, even the recognition of the legitimacy of Lukashenka did not make them his best friends. From time to time, political and public figures talk to Lukashenka. But they do it by necessity.

Only Vladimir Putin could call Minsk "for no reason," in a friendly way. However, he seems to have lost interest in Aliaksandr Ryhoravich, too. He does not succeed in filling in the vacuum with numerous meetings with the staff of hospitals, enterprises, and CSTO and EEU videoconferences.

After all, there are no friends. It is why Lukashenka told the Russia 1 reporter that Putin was his dearest friend. He does hope that Vladimir Vladimirovich will hear and call. In the meantime, he can content himself with being warmly welcomed at the riot police base near Minsk. It seems the protesters were partly right when they called Lukashenka the president of the riot police. He has no one else to rely on.
