Maryja Tarasenka, Aide To Human Rights Defender Leanid Sudalenka, Detained

Maryja Tarasenka is the most well-known housewife in the country, who two years ago proved in court that she is not a parasite. The woman was exempted from paying higher rates for public utilities, tut.by reports.

Recently she'd been a volunteer helping Homel human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka. He was detained in the morning on January 18 on the way to the office and taken to the IC. The lawyer was able to get to him only at 17.30. The human rights defender felt unwell in the IC and an ambulance was called to him.

We know that Leanid was detained in the criminal case under Article 342 of the Criminal Code - disorders. Most likely, we are speaking about part 2 - "financing of disorders".

Two weeks ago, searches were conducted in Sudalenka's home and at 52 Polesskaya Street, where the office of Homel Social and Political Center is located. They confiscated equipment, WRW flags and documents, which related to the activities of the human rights defender. According to the list, 304 items in total were seized. Then, the human rights defender was taken to the Department for Combating Organized Crime, then released.
