The lawyer of the political prisoner says that the "crimination" of the authorities has not been proved.

General Prosecutor's Office sent to the Supreme Court a criminal case against former chairman of Belgazprombank Viktar Babaryka, who was accused of bribery on a large scale by an organized group, as well as legalization of funds obtained by criminal means on a large scale under Part 3 Article 430 and Part 2 Article 235 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, tut.by reports.

Six former deputy chairmen of Belgazprombank were accused of taking bribes on a large scale by an organized group under Part 3 Article 430 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

A few days ago, Viktar Babaryka and his lawyers finished studying his criminal case. Lawyer Dzmitry Layeuski thinks that the charges against Babaryka haven't been proved.

- On the contrary, there are a number of objective facts indicating that Viktar Babaryka did not commit what he was charged with. That's why we once again stated the need to stop the criminal prosecution," - Layeuski.

The case of Belgazprombank

Last year, on June 11, the head offices of Belgazprombank, PrivatLeasing, Campari and Kentavr companies were searched. The next day, the head of the State Control Committee said that the Department of Financial Investigations opened two criminal cases under Article 235 of the Criminal Code (Legalization of criminally obtained funds on a large scale) and Article 243 of the Criminal Code (Large-scale tax evasion).

Viktar Babaryka was arrested in the so-called case of Belgazprombank on June 18. His son Eduard was detained together with the ex-banker. Head of the SCC Ivan Tsertsel said that Viktar Babaryka "was detained because he was the direct organizer of the illegal activity, tried to influence witnesses, hide the traces of the earlier crimes and literally a few days ago withdrew a large sum of money from the accounts, controlled by him". At that time, the SCC claimed that about 20 people had been detained in the "Belgazprombank case".

We remind that the human rights activists recognized Viktar Babaryka, his son Eduard and members of the politician's initiative group as political prisoners.
