Over 370 Belarusian Athletes Support Fighter Kudzin

The Belarusian Sports Solidarity Fund sent a letter in defense of fighter Aliaksei Kudzin to the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Ombudsman for Human Rights in Russia Tatyana Maskalkova, Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs Boris Paykin, and President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov, writes Tribuna.

Initially, 332 people put their signatures under the appeal.

Later, another 39 people joined the appeal. Among them are football players: Filip Rudzik, Henadz Tumilovich, Vasil Ihnatsenka, Pavel Vauchetski, Ihar Khaladkou, as well as multiple world and European kickboxing champion Maryna Kalinina.

Fighter Aliaksei Kudzin was detained in Moscow. He faces extradition.

On November 19, the first hearing in the case of fighter Aliaksei Kudzin was scheduled in the Maladechna court. However, he did not appear at the hearing, after which he was put on the wanted list. The athlete left the country. Even his wife did not know about his plans to leave Belarus.

Kudzin was detained at a protest near Maladechna city park on August 10. He was released on August 21, a criminal case was initiated against him with a restraint in the form of a house arrest.

Aliaksei Kudzin is charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code - “Resistance to an employee of the internal affairs bodies or another person who protects public order.” The maximum sanction here is up to five years in prison.

Kudzin is the Honored Master of Sports of Belarus, the world champion in Thai boxing among amateurs, the world champion in kickboxing among professionals.
