Text Messages Accusing Migrants Of Spreading COVID-19 Sent Via Cosmos TV

The messaging was conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Health.

Today Belarusians were sent text messages accusing migrants of spreading COVID-19. The mailing which many thought was a fake was actually confirmed by several sources. Cosmos TV reported some mailing glitch.

A number of Telegram channels published screenshots of the messages, but doubted their authenticity, since the wording was quite unusual, and there was also a punctuation mistake.

The website zerkalo.io writes that not one reader, but several people sent the screenshots of the messages to the editorial office.

The SmartPress publication contacted the Cosmos TV technical support service - they confirmed that the company indeed sent such a message upon the request of the Ministry of Health.

In the website of Cosmos TV reports that due to a “technical glitch” some subscribers received text messages with “incorrect content”. The company apologized, but reminded to comply with measures to combat COVID-19.
