Former Ambassador of Belarus to Germany Piotra Sadouski answered the question of Belsat whether the leaders of the democratic forces of Belarus should unambiguously declare their Euro-Atlantic ambitions and potential accession to the EU and NATO:

- Let me say that we have passed 3/4 of the way. And when it all began, perhaps, to preserve unity, it was necessary not to show the colors. We said that we are not pro-European, not pro-Russian, we are pro-Belarusian. But it is important to understand now that the genetic type of Russia is not our type. For Russia, we are now a territory for placing capital and replenishing with qualified human resources. No more. We will disappear there. Many began to understand this, and now we are entering the finish line, about a quarter of the road to victory is left. Now we should say: if we abandon the Moscow vector, we must understand that small and medium-sized states cannot exist absolutely neutral. If there are countries in Europe that are not EU members, they are only because there is such a structure nearby as the EU. Do not give up the idea of the Intermarium, the Baltic-Black Sea space. Any relationship can be with the EU. We need to talk about our values out loud.
