New factors are beginning to affect the regime.

Political analyst Dzmitry Balkunets believes that Lukashenka is now entering a very difficult period. He stated this on air of Radio 97.

- I think that during their last meeting (with Putin - ed.) Lukashenka got nothing. This fact suggests that he does not keep his word and does not fulfill what he promised last autumn - a constitutional "reform," certain transformations, for which he was given money. And he himself has spoken about it.

According to the political analyst, Russia's refusal to help the regime with money will inevitably lead to further complications in the relations between the Belarusian authorities and the people.

- Now Lukashenka is entering a difficult period. He has appointed a new Minister of Information for a reason; he is mopping up the information field and initiating criminal proceedings against the leaders of the opposition.

At a recent meeting he said that "the main task for us is the economy". It means that he understands that he will be backed up by the economy, not by some external forces, but by the internal ones. The population will be getting poorer, and that will hit him even harder than the protests.

Russia, the only country that has always been giving money to him, will hardly try to help him seriously, maybe giving him just a kopeck so that the country does not suffer too much, but he will not have any money for development. And this will definitely affect the incomes of the population, which is already getting poorer and has forgotten even about the famous "five hundred," Balkunets said.
