Investigation Department of Vitsebsk region is investigating into the death of an officer of Vorsha police department, whose body was found in the office, BelTA informs.

The circumstances of the accident are being found out. A number of necessary expert studies are scheduled.

According to independent telegram channels, Lieutenant Colonel of Police Ruslan Kavalchuk - head of group of drugs and human trafficking prevention of Vorsha police department - shot himself. The incident happened yesterday around 12:00.

The head of the Department of Internal Affairs of Vitsebsk Regional Executive Committee Liubimau and Minister of Internal Affairs Kubrakou arrived on the scene.

According to BYPOL, until yesterday Kavalchuk was seen joyful in the circle of his wife and children riding bicycles. In the morning of April 21, 2021, he took part in a physical training session and when he was given his service weapon, he did not demonstrate any strange behavior. Subsequently, he was discovered by a subordinate who came in to clarify work information. The shot was hardly heard by anyone - its sound was mistaken for a dropped tube with keys, which can be explained by the thickness of the walls in the police station building and the double iron entrance doors installed in Kavalchuk's office.
