Homel Region Started a Communal Strike?

The number of families who do not pay for utility bills is simply impressive.

The telegram channel "Yezhu poniatno" of the newspaper Homel Prauda published statistics on defaulters on housing and communal services, Flagstock reports.

The figures are impressive: 76 thousand families throughout the Homel region do not pay utility bills. Together they owe 6 million rubles.

Taking into account that the average household (family) in Belarus consists of 2.5 people, the number of defaulters will be 190,000. This is approximately a third of the population of Homel (as of January 1, 2020 - 510,300 people). Also, the number is equal to the sum of the residents of Mozyr, Zhlobin, and Lelchytsy.

Considering that families with many children often turn out to be non-payers, their share is increasing.

Nothing is known about the reasons for this behavior. But it should also be remembered that since the beginning of the protests in Belarus, many have called not to pay utility bills and, as far as possible, not to replenish the state treasury.
