The country stands by democracy and the rule of law.

Austrian Federal Minister for EU and Constitutional Affairs Karoline Edtstadler launched a working visit to the capitals of Latvia, Lithuania, Cyprus and Romania on 12 September.

"Austria supports civil society in Belarus. We stand on the side of democracy and lawfulness," wrote Edtstadler on Twitter, as Naviny.online reports.

One negotiating topic for the Austrian minister during the tour is "increasing migration pressure on the EU external borders. "The EU cannot allow itself to be blackmailed. We are increasingly witnessing third countries using illegal migration as a means of pressure. It requires strengthening ties with our EU partners, especially at its external borders," Edtstadler said before the visit began.
