PACE Raised the Topic of the Situation in Belarus despite the Statements of the Russian Delegation

The debate on the migration crisis, arranged by the Belarusian authorities, will take place on Thursday.

A session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has opened in Strasbourg today. The session raised the topic of Belarus, reports the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharenko:

- PACE has just voted to hold a debate on the situation with the migration crisis that Lukashenka staged on the border of Belarus with Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland. The debate will take place on Thursday.

By the way, the Russian delegation actively opposed these debates. So I had to take the floor and ask colleagues to support me. Which they did. Thank you!

The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that the Russian delegate to PACE Sergei Kislyak insisted that the debate on the migration crisis on the borders of Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland should not take place. He stated that the problem was "far-fetched."

- In my speech, I refuted these manipulative statements by the Russian side. As a result, PACE listened and voted to hold an urgent debate on the situation with the migration crisis. This is a very important problem that needs to be urgently addressed! - believes Honcharenko.
