'USV Impacted On Vessel And Exploded'

New details of the attack on the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol.

On October 29, at least three warships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet were hit by USVs near Sevastopol Bay in temporarily occupied Crimea. The flagship of the project 11356Р (Burevestnik) Admiral Makarov is among the hit vessels.

The GeoConfirmed volunteer Twitter group indicated it. Investigators analyzed footage from USVs (unmanned surface vehicles) that cruised the harbour and sea nearby.

A video of an attack on the "Admiral Grigoryevich-class" frigate appeared online. Only the Admiral Makarov of the Russian Black Sea Fleet corresponds to this class. The footage stops when the USV seems to impact on the vessel, the USV likely exploded.

Another video shows the attack on the Ivan Golubets, the Natya-class minesweeper. According to the Russian MOD the Ivan Golubets received "minor" damage.

In this video you can see another USV roaming between the docked ships inside the harbour, probably "looking for a target of opportunity". This footage was also stopped when the UAV crashed into a vessel and likely exploded.

Based on the footage the investigators concluded that the USV was near at least 4 ships and for attacking the target it did almost a U-turn.

According to the GeoConfirmed volunteers and all the footage, about six to eight USVs were involved. And three were used against warships.

Investigators noted that it was Ukraine that used the USVs.

“From the video footage, it can be argued with a high probability that: USVs broke through the defences of the Sevastopol Bay; about six USVs were involved; at least three ships were hit by the USVs,” the GeoConfirmed concluded.
