Katsiaryna Andreyeva Was Transferred To Homiel
KATSIARYNA ANDREYEVA

The political prisoner journalist is in colony No. 4.

Political prisoner Belsat journalist Katsiaryna Andreyeva (Bakhvalava) was transferred from the pre-trial detention center No. 3 to the correctional colony on Antoshkina Street in Homiel. Her husband Ihar Iliash informed aboot it.

Katsiaryna had been there earlier, from May 2021 to February 2022, when the KGB opened a new criminal case against her.

Now letters, postcards and telegrams can be sent to: Katsiaryna Andreyeuna Bakhvalava Correctional colony No. 4 3 Antoshkina street 246035, Homiel, Belarus.

"We do not know for sure whether she will receive correspondence in the new circumstances. While Katsia was in the pre-trial detention center, only letters from relatives were allowed through to her. But even in such conditions, it was sometimes possible to convey to her words of support and solidarity from friends, colleagues and simply caring people,” writes Ihar Iliash.

He also noted that Katsiaryna “asked everyone to convey that she is sincerely grateful to everyone who does not forget political prisoners. Thanks to this, she feels that it has all been worthwhile."

“Katsia said that she hugs everyone tightly and sends a ray of smile from the prison,” said the husband of the political prisoner.

The journalist was detained on November 15, 2020 during a stream from the Square of Changes in Minsk. She and journalist Darya Chultsova were sentenced to two years in prison. This year, Katsiaryna was charged again: "state treason". On July 13, the Homiel Regional Court sentenced her to 8 years and 3 months in a penal colony on trumped-up charges.

The hearing was closed. It is still unknown what exactly was the basis for this criminal case. The court declared that Katsiaryna was found guilty in the "disclosure of state secrets to a foreign organization, a foreign state".
