Political Prisoner Arseni Chyzhyk Sentenced To 2.5 Years In Prison In Zeltser's Case

Judge Ruslan Tsaruk considered the case.

On November 21, the Homiel Regional Court tried political prisoner Arseni Chyzhyk under part 1 of article 130 (“Inciting other social hatred”) of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in a medium-security prison. Judge Ruslan Tsaruk considered the case, according to the Viasna Human Rights Center.

Arseni Chyzhyk was detained in Homiel in a criminal case initiated for online comments after the death of KGB officer Dzmitry Fedasiuk and IT specialist Andrei Zeltser in a Minsk apartment.

Initially, Arseni was charged with a criminal case under two articles: Art. 369 ("Insulting a government official") and Part 1 Art. 130 ("Inciting other social hatred"). According to the verdict, one of the articles was later removed.
