Political Prisoner Arseni Chyzhyk Sentenced To 2.5 Years In Prison In Zeltser's Case

On November 21, the Homiel Regional Court tried political prisoner Arseni Chyzhyk under part 1 of article 130 (“Inciting other social hatred”) of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in a medium-security prison. Judge Ruslan Tsaruk considered the case, according to the Viasna Human Rights Center.
Arseni Chyzhyk was detained in Homiel in a criminal case initiated for online comments after the death of KGB officer Dzmitry Fedasiuk and IT specialist Andrei Zeltser in a Minsk apartment.
Initially, Arseni was charged with a criminal case under two articles: Art. 369 ("Insulting a government official") and Part 1 Art. 130 ("Inciting other social hatred"). According to the verdict, one of the articles was later removed.
