FSB Agent Who Arrived From Crimea To Prepare Sabotage Captured In Kyiv

He turned out to be a former police officer of Sevastopol.

SBU counterintelligence detained a Russian agent, whom the FSB sent to Kyiv to prepare acts of sabotage. He was transferred to the capital even before the start of the war.

It is reported by the SBU.

According to the Ukrainian intelligence service, the attacker performed the tasks of the FSB to collect intelligence about the locations and routes of movement of the Defense Forces in the capital region. He passed the information he received to the enemy for planning and preparing active sabotage against the Ukrainian military.

As the investigation established, the enemy henchman turned out to be a former employee of the disbanded police, who, after being fired from the ranks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2014, remained in Sevastopol. After the capture of the peninsula, the attacker went over to the side of the invaders.

The agent was transferred to Kyiv a month before the full-scale invasion. Under the guise of visiting relatives, he was in sleep mode for some time, and when he was instructed to act, he was detained by the SBU.

“The enemy agent underwent operational and combat training at the training centers of the Russian special services and was waiting for further transfer to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. It was this command that he received from the aggressor almost a month before the start of a full-scale invasion,” the SBU said.

At the same time, the agent decided not to act alone and tried to form an extensive network of informants. To do this, he used his connections among former law enforcement officers and representatives of criminal circles.

During the searches, they found a foreign passport and a passport of a Russian citizen, a mobile phone, materials confirming the passage of a “special course” in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The defendant was informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court sent him into custody.
