BT Claims Europe Drowns In Darkness: What About Street Lighting In Barysau City Center?

This is written by the state publication.

While BT is scaring Belarusians with the lack of electricity in Europe, in Barysau it is dark even “on the main avenue of the city” at 6 pm. And the state publication Minskaya Pravda writes about this, which from time to time gives metered criticism on its pages, writes Nasha Niva.

“The problem of broken roads is by no means new for the residents of the Barysau district. But this does not mean that you can just put up with it and let it go by itself (in the most literal sense). And if the lack of street lighting in the evening is added to this issue, there is no way out — you have to call a hot line,” says the publication.

Having encountered this problem, Mrs. Lidziya from the regional center turned to the deputy chairman of the Minsk regional executive committee Ivan Markevich for help.

The woman spoke in an agitated voice about the fear she lives in. After all, she has to go home from work late, when it is already getting dark, and you can’t see anything on the street.

“I walked along the March 8 street at 6 pm — there was no light there. I walked along the main avenue of the city — there was no light at 6 pm. It’s dark,” Mrs. Lidziya shares. “When I was crossing the road, a car emerged, driving at such a speed that I barely had time to jump aside!

On the same day I called the district executive committee. They said they'll figure it out. Then I turned to the chief power engineer of the city. They said to leave an application for 115. It works the following way here: until we say that we will contact the regional executive committee, no one hears us,” the publication reports the woman’s words.

Ivan Markevich, according to Minskaya Pravda, recorded the signal and instructed the Barysau regional executive committee to sort the issue out.

However, what is it like in Europe, in actual fact? Let’s look at some Polish cities as an example:

Wroclaw in the night:

Krakow in the night:
