Russian General Threatens Prigozhin With Jail In State Duma

The former commander of the 58th Army accused the Wagner military of putting themselves above other Russian soldiers.

Members of the Russian State Duma have made it clear that they will not allow the head of the Wagner PMC, Evgeny Prigozhin, to criticize the Defense Ministry and the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

Thus, the former commander of the 58th Army, Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev, stressed that Evgeny Prigozhin might go to places of detention, that is, where he recruits future terrorist occupiers.

The general accused the "Wagnerians" of putting themselves above other Russian soldiers.

He noted that Prigozhin and the fighters of his illegal formation have been cut down to size too late - they do not play a significant role in the war.

On December 29, it was reported that "the services" of "Putin's cook" were also acknowledged by the OCCRP. The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project announced him as "Corruptionist of the Year". The OCCRP website called Prigozhin a "symbol" of lawlessness, war, murder, violence and cynicism.

The Wagner PMC has been described as an "illegal private army" commanded by an oligarch. The experts summarized: Prigozhin is not subject to Russian law, since he acts with the permission of Russian authorities.
