The Russians used almost all their resources.

Mykhailo Podoliak, the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, said that after nightly battles with Russian troops, the situation in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, is completely under control, reports nv.ua.

On the air of the 1+1 TV Channel, Podoliak said that the enemy not only wants to seize the administrative buildings but also to destroy the political and military leadership of the country.

“Kyiv is under fire during the night, and even starting from yesterday evening, there are constant rocket and air attacks... We understood that [tonight] would be the most difficult situation because the Russians used almost all their resources... [they] counted on a blitzkrieg, which did not happen," he said.

The adviser to the head of the Presidential Office emphasised that the Armed Forces of Ukraine professionally repulsed the Russian landing and an attempt to enter with armoured vehicles, the National Police and the Territorial Defence are working very well, almost all enemy subversion and reconnaissance groups have been noticed and partially destroyed.

"The situation in Kyiv is 100% under control. Yes, there are local fights, for example, on Beresteiska, where they tried to capture a military unit. Recaptured. In any direction where this or that clash occurs, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the National Police and the Territorial Defence take over and win,” Podoliak said.

"The situation throughout Ukraine is also completely under control, despite the fact that attacks by Russian troops continue in all directions," the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office added.

Earlier, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Oleksiy Danilov said that active hostilities continue in Kyiv. Residents of the capital city are asked to remain calm, to be careful and not to go out into the street.

The Kyiv City State Administration stated that during the night of February 26, there were no breakthroughs by the Russian military in Kyiv, and the CHP-6 in Troieshchyna was safe. At the Beresteiska metro station, an offensive against a military unit was repelled and an enemy column of equipment was stopped.

The mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko urged the people of Kyiv not to leave their homes or shelters and collect warm clothes and blankets. The Ministry of Internal Affairs asked not to film or spread the information about the movements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
